This tutorial shows you how to make Python functions work like json.dumps()JavaScript functions.JSON.stringify()

Difference between JavaScript `JSON.stringify()`functions and Python functions`json.dumps()`

Whenever we use the function in JavaScript on an array JSON.stringify(), the spaces between the elements are removed by default. The following code example shows the working implementation of this function in JavaScript.

Code:

var arr = [7, 8, 6];
JSON.stringify(arr)

Output:

[7,8,6]

We initialized an array and passed it to JSON.stringify()the function in the above code. The output shows that the function removed all the spaces between the elements of the array.

Whereas in Python, the equivalent function is json.dumps()which does not remove these spaces by default. A working implementation of this function is given in the coding example below.

Code:

import json

arr = [7, 8, 6]
json.dumps(arr)

Output:

[7, 8, 6]

In the above code, we initialized a list and passed it to json.dumps()the function. The output shows that the function preserves a space between all the list elements.

Using Python functions similar to JavaScript `JSON.stringify()`functions`json.dumps()`

separatorsWe can remove spaces from the output of the function by specifying the separators using the parameter json.dumps(). The following code snippet shows a working demonstration of this method in Python.

Code:

import json

arr = [7, 8, 6]
json.dumps(arr, separators=(",", ":"))

Output:

[7,8,6]

We have specified separators=(',',':')to remove spaces between list elements. The output shows that spaces between list elements have been removed.

Now, this function in Python json.dumps()works exactly like the function in JavaScript JSON.stringify().
