Ceiling division in Python
Ceiling division returns the nearest integer that is greater than or equal to the current answer or quotient. In Python, we have an operator //
for floor division, but there is no operator for ceiling division. This article will discuss the different ways we can perform ceiling division in Python.

Using the operator to perform ceiling division
in Python
We can //
perform ceiling division in Python using so math and floor Division. Refer the following code.

return -1 * (-a // b)
print(ceil(1, 2))
print(ceil(5, 4))

print(ceil(5, 3))

Here is what we did.

will return the same answer, but witha // b
the opposite sign of . -
Because on the negative side,

is greater than-(a + 1)

the operator will return an integer that is slightly smaller than the actual answer. For example, if the answer to normal division is-1.25
, the floor value returned will be-2

By multiplying the intermediate answer or result of

, we get an answer with the expected sign. The return value is essentially the result of the ceiling division.
